Remembrance day: 4th December
Barbara was a very beautiful and young Christian virgin, martyr and saint of the 3rd century. Although she had a lot of admirers, she visited a group of young Christians despite persecution. Barbara learned the gospel and decided that she wanted to become a Christian. Her father did not agree and beheaded her.
Presentation: Saint Barbara is usually represented with a tower, sometimes with host and chalice or with martyr's palm and sword.
Patron: Holy Barbara is patron of miners, metallurgists, founders, geologists, masons, carpenters, roofers, electricians, architects, pyrotechnics, firemen.
